2002 Sutphen Pumper

This 2002 Custom Fire Engine remained in frontline service until May 2026. It features a five-person cab, a clean body, and has been well maintained throughout its service life.

Despite being a 24-year-old apparatus, the truck recently passed its pump test with excellent results. It has a strong engine, a dependable transmission, and is mechanically sound. As expected with an apparatus that has seen regular emergency service, it shows normal wear and tear from 24 years of mounting and carrying equipment, but its overall condition is solid.

This apparatus was removed from service solely due to an apparatus replacement schedule and the age of the vehicle—not because of any mechanical or operational deficiencies. It would have continued to operate if not for the planned replacement program.

Complete maintenance records, pump test documentation, and the original operator's manual are available. This engine was purchased new in 2002 and has remained in service for its entire life.

The truck does have two cab windows that require repair. Due to the age of the apparatus, the manual window crank mechanisms have worn out and no longer properly raise or lower the windows. One of these windows is currently secured in the closed position with tape. This issue has not affected the truck's operational capabilities but should be addressed by the purchaser.

This is a solid apparatus with a proven service history and would make an excellent frontline engine for a smaller operation, a reserve apparatus, or a training vehicle.
